Andres Martinez, Founder

Class A General Contractor and M. Arch

ARKE design-build’s founder, project manager and designer; involved in residential and light commercial projects in Charlottesville, VA. With more than 18 years of construction management and architectural design experience, Andres is a liaison between the client’s needs and ideas, the design development process, and the construction of custom residential homes, renovations and additions.

Andres started his professional path in 2001 while working at The Clark Construction Group in the Washington, DC area. He was involved in managing several construction projects that included a resort hotel, high-rise offices and high-rise residential buildings.

He successfully defended his Master of Architecture thesis in June 2007 at Virginia Tech’s WAAC (Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center) and also holds a 5-year Architecture undergraduate degree from the University Of The Andes in Bogota, Colombia.

He spends his free time with his wife and three children, loves horses, mountain biking and swimming.

Andres came from his native Colombia, South America in February 2001 to Washington, D.C. and later moved to Charlottesville, VA in 2007. He is very proud of this small but unique company, which came to be on October 24, 2014, and now operates out of a renovated 100-year-old cottage in Albemarle County.
