Montvue Drive Renovation
Completed 2017
This mid-century modern house, built in 1960, was slated to be demolished and had been neglected for decades before we had the chance to completely renovate its interior layout, its exterior skin, windows, floor-to-ceiling storefronts, roof, and hardscape. One could say that it was a bit of a tired time capsule, however it had great bones and a lot to admire architecturally. It sits on a gently sloping lot with views to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The overall renovation reorganized the interior spaces in the master bedroom, bathrooms, study, kitchen, laundry/mudroom and social areas. The new kitchen borrowed some space
from an adjacent bar area to house a walk-in pantry and a large refrigerator, which improved flow and function. There were new subfloors installed throughout, new hardwood floors in most areas, and travertine tile on the kitchen, mudroom and powder room floors. New windows, interior and exteriors doors, interior and exterior trim, cabinetry, countertops and paint were also installed and updated.
The architectural design and construction of this project were performed by ARKE.
